A neon splash

Morag Myerscough rubs shoulders with the ‘diving lady’ of North London

Many London visitors and locals are familiar with the famous ‘diving lady’ sign on Hornsey Road Baths. Graphic designer Morag Myerscough has just completed some neon signs for Platform, a project that has transformed the former swimming pool (below) into youth arts venue / workshop in Islington, north London.

Myerscough’s neon typography (on the other side of the building to the ‘diving lady’) includes a poem (top and below) devised by the venue’s young advisors.

She also designed neon signs for the various rooms within the building, for which Platform’s potential users devised eccentric, alternative names: ‘HEART + HOME’ for the café; ‘FRESH & LOUD’ for the performance space; ‘LIVE & BOLD’ for the auditorium; ‘CUT & PASTE’ for the editing suites; and ‘SAFE & SOUND’ for a consultation room.
